Bybit API keys

API keys provide a convenient way to authorize specific operations on the exchange using third-party software.

With an API key for a Bybit-liquidity account, you can use the Bybit platform API to perform trading or wallet operations. Additionally, a read-only API key lets you grant third parties access to your exchange account — for example, to monitoring or analytics services.

Creating an API key

To create an API key for Bybit liquidity, go to the API page in the Account section.

  1. Click «Create API key».
  2. Fill in the following fields on the resulting page:
    • Key label — provide a short name, e.g., Key 1.
    • Access type — choose «Read and write» or «Read only». The first allows trading operations and managing the wallet balance (use with care); the second is for analytics services.
    • Access sections — tick the sections this key should have access to:
      • Futures order
      • Futures position
      • Spot
      • Wallet
    • IP restriction — restrict API access to specific IP addresses for added security. Enter IPs without spaces, comma-separated. Notes:
      • If you don’t set an IP (or use *), there are no restrictions.
      • An API key without an IP restriction becomes invalid after 90 days.
  3. Fill in fields preventing unauthorized creation of keys — two-factor authentication (2FA) and the email code.
  4. After creation, the key and secret will be shown. The secret is shown only once at creation, so make sure to save it before refreshing the page.

Editing an API key

To change certain parameters of an API key, click «Edit» in the key header on the list. You can change:

  • Access type
  • Access sections
  • IP addresses

To delete a key, click «Delete» in the key header in the list.
