Standard Deviation

The statistical standard deviation of a price series over N periods. StdDev computes the statistical standard deviation of closing prices over n periods. High values indicate high volatility and uncertainty, low values indicate stability. It is used as a component in Bollinger Bands and as a standalone volatility indicator.

Formula:

StdDev = sqrt(SUM((Close - SMA(Close, n))^2, n) / n)

TriggerDirectionConditionDescription
Level cross up🟢 BuyThe indicator value crossed the set level from below.The standard deviation value crosses the configurable Level from below. Level is set in the trigger parameters.
Level cross down🔴 SellThe indicator value crossed the set level from above.The standard deviation value crosses the Level from above. Level is set in the trigger parameters.
Value above level by N🟢 BuyThe indicator value rose above the level by a set distance.The standard deviation value crosses the Level + Distance mark, moving upward. The distance delays entry until the level breakout is confirmed.
Value below level by N🔴 SellThe indicator value dropped below the level by a set distance.The standard deviation value crosses the LevelDistance mark, moving downward.
Value rising🟢 BuyThe indicator value is rising relative to the previous bar.The standard deviation value on the current bar is higher than on the previous one — upward momentum.
Value falling🔴 SellThe indicator value is declining relative to the previous bar.The standard deviation value on the current bar is lower than on the previous one — downward momentum. Fires on every declining bar.
Slope turns positive🟢 BuyThe indicator’s slope turned positive — an upward reversal.The standard deviation value changes its slope from descending to ascending — the indicator has stopped falling and started rising.
Slope turns negative🔴 SellThe indicator’s slope turned negative — a downward reversal.The standard deviation value changes its slope from ascending to descending — the indicator has stopped rising and started falling.
